Expertly manage multiple responsibilities as General Counsel for a national non-profit trade association. Promote the day-to-day administration and operation of the National Sheriffs’ Association and our nation’s Departments/ Offices of Sheriff with 20,000 affiliated members. Advise, guide, and counsel Board of Directors, senior management, and committees on implementation of effective corporate strategies and good governance practices. Draft and advise on the need to update and amend existing bylaws and rules of governance required by nonprofit organizations and their affiliates.
Assist in the development of a viable Legal Affairs Committee of a non-profit trade association to meet the changing legal issues faced by our nation’s over 3,000 Departments/Offices of Sheriff on constitutional questions involving the first, second fourth, fifth and eighth Amendments to the Constitution of the United States by joining and by filing Amicus Briefs with the Supreme Court of the United States.
Successfully established and manage all aspects of a solo for-profit law practice in ERISA, corporate, tax, estates and trusts, and asset protection. Utilize strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to understand individual clients’ specific needs to analyze complex data/information and devise practical solutions and best practices to minimize risk and liabilities.

General Counsel (25+ years): Provide legal strategies and solutions for a national non-profit trade association representing the interests of our nation’s elected Departments/Offices of Sheriffs.
