General Counsel (25+ years): Provide legal strategies and solutions for a national non-profit trade association representing the interests of our nation’s elected Departments/Offices of Sheriffs. Monitor good governance practices, draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, and investigate and respond to administrative and regulatory inquiries and charges. Partner with outside counsel on legal matters that require unique and specific legal expertise in litigation and other matters (e.g., working with FCC on public safety spectrum and inmate calling rates). Collaborate with executive director and staff, membership, officers, Board of Directors, and committees to achieve the non-profit association strategic objectives and mission statements while minimizing legal and other costs, risks, and liabilities.
